Isometric Exteriors with Procreate

Background Information:

  • Students were taught how to use the drawing guidelines in the Procreate App.

  • The isometric drawing guide was used for this project. An isometric perspective worksheet was used before creating in their tablets.

  • Students are encouraged to pick a consistent color palette when creating their final piece.

Learning Objectives:

  • The student will learn how to use isometric perspective.

  • The student will create an original isometric perspective exterior.

  • The student will reflect upon the artistic decisions made when creating their original isometric exterior.

  • Anchor Standard 1: Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work.

  • Anchor Standard 2: Organize and develop artistic ideas and work.

  • Anchor Standard 3: Refine and complete artistic work.

  • Anchor Standard 4: Select, analyze and interpret artistic work for presentation

  • Anchor Standard 6: Convey meaning through the presentation of artistic work.

  • Anchor Standard 8: Interpret meaning in artistic work.

  • Anchor Standard 10: Relate and synthesize knowledge and personal experiences to inspire and inform artistic work.

  • How do artists and designers determine whether a particular direction in their work is effective?

  • How do artists and designers learn from trial and error?

Project Duration (1-2 Weeks):

  • Introduction, Brainstorm and Research: 1-2 Days

  • Project Time: 5 Days

  • Reflection and Critique: 1 Day


Differentiation:

  • Students may practice using an isometric perspective worksheet to create basic forms before moving onto complex architecture.

  • Students may advance their skills by adding a light source to their exteriors and add details to their spaces.
